How do we keep our Healthy Eating Habits in check, when we are in a hurry and hungry, and fast food restaurants are on virtually every street corner, tempting us to purchase their starchy, fatty, salty, and sugary foods? Don't we all want Diets that Work, which will also keep us healthy?
The way to health is to choose only to Eat Whole Foods, Organic Produce, and learn Proper Food Combining. Some believe a Raw Food Diet is the key to health and Staying Younger. Others call themselves a Vegan, where they strictly eat only plants, fruits, and vegetables; or a Vegetarian who does not eat any meat, but may include Raw Eggs and Raw Milk products in their diet. An Omnivore is one who eats a variety of meats and plants. This is the classification where most of us fall.
Eating something just because it tastes good cannot continue being our only sensible food choice guide, if we wish to stay healthy. Admittedly, foods have to taste good, but they also have to be good for us, too if we are to practice healthy eating habits. As we all know, that greasy hamburger is not good for the arteries and our waist lines, and sugar from that large soft drink will turn into the fat we will carry with us, wherever we go.
Occasional fast food is fine; (Taking great care there is no Trans Fat in it) I personally limit it to about once a week or so, but in the meantime; we need to retrain ourselves to make better food choices. This is one healthy eating habits strategy…
We need to learn to eat food which is good for us, rather than eat foods which only taste good. When we change our eating habits, the old foods will eventually not appeal to us as much. As our food tastes and food choices change, our health will improve. Healthy eating habits will not allow us to reward ourselves anymore with food and drink we know is harmful to us.
When we break any of nature’s laws, we will undoubtedly suffer. We all need to learn what the rules are, and how they apply to our health and diet. We do know that when we broke nature’s rules in the past, the consequences came back to us later like a boomerang; waking us, teaching its lessons through the hard knocks of sickness and bad health.
The truth is that we weren’t born with a frying pan in our hands, and devitalized, sugary juice drinks in bottles don’t grow on trees, either. Our bodies weren’t made to eat the amount of sugars and carbohydrates we presently eat, but were designed instead to eat living substances. Break the laws of the earth and ignore healthy eating habits, and we will all pay the price through the karma of poor health.
Health Benefits of Juicing
Some Raw Food Purists may argue that juicing through an electric juicer is not natural enough. Although this may literally and technically be true, the Health Benefits of Juicing through a machine does nevertheless, align itself with nature’s laws. In other words, if we were to chew fruits and vegetables long enough, it would bring essentially the same results with the food broken down, saturated with our saliva for easier digestion.* Experience the Joy of Juicing.
The fruits and vegetables in our mouths are masticated through chewing; the natural juices are created by reducing them to pulp. We would have therefore, made our own juice in the process of chewing. But, who has the time for all of this? Juicing, and drinking it, is a lot more convenient than chewing.
The difference between juicing and eating raw produce, is in the fiber. We nevertheless, need raw salads for their Soluble and Non-Soluble fiber, while juicing will deliver the living essence of the juice to us.
We can aid digestion, and nutritional absorption, while becoming healthier through simply chewing our food longer, and juicing.
A good reason to begin juicing, is to jump start our health. Our intestinal tracks are so corrupted and clogged from years of eating wrong food, our small intestines are not absorbing nutrients efficiently. Juicing is the go around, in that it makes it easier for our bodies to absorb a predigested liquid without a lot of digestive energy. Juicing will provide easily absorbed nutrients. In the meantime, we still need fiber from living foods to regain our health. Raw fresh salads and Green Leafy Vegetables with their fiber keeps us in alignment with healthy eating habits. Eating this way, is the broom which will help sweep our intestines clean, keeping us healthy, and feeling vibrant.
Compulsive Eating of wheat products, like breads, grains, cereals, potatoes, and corn etc., are just some of the commonly known causes of weight gain, allergic reactions in many, raising blood sugar levels too high in most of us, sickness, and even early death. If one has Food Allergies, and a certain substance is causing him physical symptoms, he must isolate the criminal and expel it from his diet. You can take what’s called a Food Intolerance Test, administered by your doctor.
* Believe it or not, you may want to go a little further in your healthy eating habits; so far as to consider giving up Bread in its entirety; as, a certain molecule within particular grains causes damage to our small intestines and diminishes their ability to absorb vital nutrients. We can actually become malnourished and lose bone mass.
Read this important article about healthy eating habits. Here’s why you should consider giving up Grain in all its forms. It is due to what's usually called Gluten Sensitivity, but it should actually be called Gliadin Sensitivity, because the molecule Gliadin is the culprit.
From time to time, I eat brown rice bread. This takes the place of wheat, oat, and rye grain breads. Brown rice bread is more solid, heavier, has smaller slices, costs about twice as much as wheat bread, has a different texture, and tastes somewhat different. At last, there is no Gliadin molecule to worry about here, to inflame and damage our intestinal walls. I try to avoid all Flour, no matter what grain it is made from. This is because most flour is devitalized and therefore, lifeless.
Compulsive eating may also have its roots in a mineral and vitamin deficiency.
Obvious to some of us, the average American consumes way too much starchy, fatty, and sugary food. But, who doesn’t crave these; as they all taste pretty good. But, as you now know, taste can deceive. We have learned Eating Healthy and Weight Loss will not only preserve your health, but prolong your life. Eating fatty foods is not necessarily the primary cause of weight gain and health problems in this country. It is which Fats you eat, and the quantity, thereof. But more than this, your body’s insulin converts all excess Sugars and Grains which you eat, into fat. Think about it, what do you usually see in the hand of someone who is grossly overweight? It is usually a large soft drink, candy bar, and/or cookie, etc.
Remember the expression, you are what you eat?
You’ve probably heard the old expression “You are what you eat,” before. Closer examination into the quantity of starches and sugars we actually consume every day will make you wonder what will be left to eat at home, if we decide to change our diets. As you will soon discover, there will be plenty to eat to conform to better healthy eating habits. We must simply be conscious enough to choose our foods that much more wisely.
Through time, we become what we eat; or more precisely, end up appearing like what we eat. Overweight stomachs start looking like bread baskets, lumpy bag of potatoes, or a huge doughnut (Spare-tire.) There is a way to lose those ugly excess pounds, through Juicing for Weight Loss.
* Daily Juicing will give us vital nutrients we need which will help stop the cravings for those foods which are bringing us harm. To repeat, wrong food cravings could very well be vitamin and mineral deficiencies in disguise.
Avoiding sugar in all its refined forms is a major feat in for achieving healthy eating habits. This means eliminating soda pop, and additionally any Artificial Sweeteners. I heard one drawback of drinking energy drinks, is that they dissolve teeth. I have also heard the same is true for many soft drinks. Soft drinks are made with Distilled Water, and this type of water is caustic and acidic. It also tends to leach minerals out of the body. These are a few good reasons to discontinue drinking them, both. I personally have completely lost the desire to drink sodas, and never acquired a taste for energy drinks.
* Note- I emailed a certain manufacturer about an artificial sweetener which was present within their product, fairly recently. The response I got was a coupon, and a reminder that I should always read labels. There was a subtle rudeness I detected in how they told me I should have read the label, before I bought their product.
Their ingredient list was long, and there was actually no warning about this particular sweetener anywhere on the container, because the FDA says it’s OK. Not so, for me; this particular ingredient causes me to sweat, and feel dizzy. I felt the company was being vaguely rude to me, and wrote back and told them that sometimes it is better for a responsible company to take the initiative and step up to the plate and do what’s right, instead of passively abiding by the minimum standards the law requires to escape moral responsibility for ingredients which may bring harm to some people.
I thought my response was pretty good; of course, like I thought, they didn’t respond back to me on that one. I have since discontinued buying that particular product, although they do still have other products I feel are worthy of buying. The problem was in a whey based protein powder which had an artificial sweetener, which caused me to have certain symptoms. I read labels now. If there are too many ingredients I don’t understand, I simply do not buy whatever it may be, anymore.
Many packaged and canned processed foods one buys at the store remain cloaked behind a long list of ingredients you can’t even understand or heard of; yet, we must force ourselves to read labels, anyway to keep our healthy eating habits. Common sense dictates that if you don’t understand what the ingredients are, pass the product by.
Let’s develop conscious healthy eating habits, and a health strategy which includes plenty of Living Foods and Green Leafy Vegetables like Raw Salads, and a back up plan for when we back-slide and succumb to temptation. Many of us eat the wrong foods because of daily stress. We eat, we gain weight, and this causes more stress because we are disgusted with our weight, so we eat more of the same poor food choices to temporarily escape our feelings of frustration with how we look, and feel. It’s a vicious emotional, mental, and dietary cycle. We will change all this through new healthy eating habits. Visiting the Nutrition Food Pyramid can help you devise a healthy diet.
* Healthy eating habits include using healthy dressings on your leafy, green salad. Choose olive oil and Apple Cider Vinegar with a little honey, or mustard mixed in. Experience the great flavor, and health benefits, for yourself! This is one of my all time favorites.
Healthy eating habits include a conscious determination to include High Fiber Foods such as Leafy Green Vegetables in the form of salads, with each meal. Try to use the greenest leafy lettuce variety, instead of only Iceberg Lettuce.
We can change our health and our energy levels, if we only will muster the will-power to abide by our healthy eating habits. If you do this with a partner, all the better, then you can support each other in making sure you both stick to it. Then, it will not be another soon-to-be-forgotten diet or New Year’s resolution we know we won’t keep. Our healthy eating habits will become a new lifestyle, instead of another short-lived fad diet.
In the real world, it is hard to change or sometimes even slightly alter our traditional ingrained eating habits we learned while growing up. Some habits are customs in our societies, like Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinners, so we’re not going to give these feasting celebrations, up.
Moreover, it’s not easy to give up candy, bread, deserts, ice cream, soft drinks, pancakes, pies, cakes, biscuits, and all the fatty, greasy, starchy, sugary, (Did I miss anything?) Traditional Foods which make us feel simply wonderful for a while, with consequences later in constipation, upset stomachs, and long naps.
Healthier Choices
* Trans Fats - Avoid fried foods. I feel anything made at home is far superior to what you get in a fast food restaurant. We seldom eat out, and enjoy our home cooked meals, better. I am the chef, and the dish washer.
* Stop smoking. It is extremely addictive, filthy, unfulfilling, and does nothing but lead to another cigarette.
* Give up, or at least limit alcohol to an occasional glass of wine, with dinner.
* Stop Drinking Coffee, or limit it to a cup a day. If you must; do drink it, but try to avoid it as I believe it puts an extra strain on the liver, kidneys, circulatory system, and heart.
* Get 6 to 8 hours sleep. Don’t get too much, as it tends to depress.
* Exercise aerobically daily for at least fifteen minutes. Alter your exercise program, monthly. Include strength training.
* Never shop on an empty stomach. We don’t want to impulse buy, because we not only wish to save money, but not buy stuff we ordinarily wouldn’t purchase if we had only eaten a meal shortly before we went.
* Consider eating a predominately Raw Food Diet (More Salads.)
* Lastly, consider this…
The consumer has economic influence; therefore, power. If we didn’t buy it, they wouldn’t make it. Use your voice in this way to vote. Collectively, we have the power to change things through allowing our Dollars to do the talking.
* We can change our Poor Eating Habits to Healthy Eating Habits once we learn the foods and drink which are best for us to eat.
